Meet your specialist in Artist Website Design for Creatives

Hello, I'm Em as in Emma...

Building meaningful relationships is at the core of my artist website design work. Whether through workshops, mentoring, or creating custom websites for creatives, I listen to your challenges and goals, collaborating with you every step of the way.

Think of me as your planning partner, problem solver, and creative advocate—dedicated to bringing your artistic practice to life online with thoughtful website design that truly represents your work. My approach combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of the creative journey and target audiences for your work, ensuring your online presence is as unique and impactful as your work itself.

Artist Website Designs that work as thoughtfully as you do…

Every piece of your artwork tells a story. Your artist website should tell it just as powerfully. After spending over two decades immersed in the art, design and craft worlds - from teaching, running my own hand printing textile studio, selling globally through E-commerce, working at the UK Crafts Council in trading, exhibitions, and education, and mentoring over 100 businesses - I've learned that the most powerful artist websites aren't just beautiful, they're purposeful.

Why Work With Em?

The name started simply as a shorthand for Emma, but has grown to represent something bigger - 'work with Em' and 'work with them' - because that's exactly what happens here (as a lovely friend pointed out). I work alongside visual artists, makers and creative’s, understanding their practice, business model, their aspirations, and what they want to do online.

My approach is collaborative and considered, just like your creative process. Whether you're a ceramicist needing to showcase intricate glazing details, a textile artist wanting to capture the subtle textures of your made to order work, or a maker looking to bring your workshops online or showcase how you work to commission, you might have a research based practice that needs a digital platform to document your outputs. I understand how to translate these nuances into digital experiences that resonate with your target audience.

My Creative Journey in Artist Website Design

My creative path has been anything but linear. I am a life-long learner and problem solver, and here are a few shares from that journey. From selling early Grayson Perry works at the Crafts Council Gallery to launching my own global eCommerce window film brand, I've experienced firsthand the power of bringing creative work into the digital realm. My journey includes designing for Made.com, V&A, and Liberty, creating commissions from hospitals to hotels, and receiving a NESTA Research fellowship for pioneering digital print technologies in craft.

It was during the pandemic, in my role as Business Coach within the Business Incubation team at Cockpit Arts (an award-winning social enterprise and home to 175+ world-class craftspeople in the heart of London), that some thoughts started to gain clarity. Supporting creative businesses to reimagine and plan their online presence gave me deep insights into the unique challenges artists and makers face. From getting the right photo crop for delicate ceramics to how to set up and sell workshops online that really conveyed their expertise and value. I saw how makers struggled to translate their physical work and their offers into compelling digital experiences to show, tell and sell - and I knew I could help. That's when Work With Em truly came to life.
