Adventure Photographer | Katie Taylor
Project Background
Katie Taylor is a self-taught outdoor photographer. She travels wherever the job takes her with a passion for long-distance hiking and wild camping. With a 20-year career as a freelance camera assistant, Katie approached Emma to help her design a website for her new venture as a freelance photographer with a focus on the outdoor lifestyle and adventure.
WEBSITE GOALS:
A website that would show the breadth of Katie’s beautiful outdoor photography practice.
To inspire target clients from the travel, adventure and lifestyle sectors to get in touch.
Katie expressed that she wanted visitors to view her as a professional photographer.
The potential to share stories from different activities from her adventures of wild camping.
To be able to update her site with her latest photographic projects.
To be able to sell photographic prints from where ever she was based in the world.
ACTIONS TAKEN:
We broke down the strategy of the business and the target customer/audience and designed a site around these key areas.
We looked at the market for outdoor lifestyle and adventure photography
Set up a shoppable e-commerce Prints page that supports Katie to sell Prints, with a set of images showing how her prints looked framed.
Intergrated her Squarespace shop with The Print Space so prints are drop shipped. This means Katie does not need to store products or ship her prints.
Developed a story focussed design approach with the website design to showcase Katie and her love of the outdoors.
Beautiful exciting home page (landing page) with a full-width banner.
Mobile friendly design
Instagram feed implementation on the contact page
SEO friendly - with keywords developed for on-page SEO
Portfolio page with added CSS masonry layout so images can be loaded landscape or portrait with CSS breadcrumb navigation. Katie can add her latest work to this section herself with ease.
The site's overall design is beautiful with a focus on Katie’s photography with clear CTA’s to guide visitors to get in touch or buy.
After project completion, clients receive training for self-updates, so live website content may differ from my original design.
